It's gonna be one of those days for this poor guy. First he breaks a leg and then he misses the bus. Hate when that happens! But the good news is, he gets to play along with the Lawnscaping Texture challenge. My initial focus was to use transparent micro fine glitter (for the first time) and then color over it. I should have practiced a little bit first, but I guess it turned out okay. First I stamped the image, then cut it out with the coordinating die, and since it's such a small little piece, rather than pour the glitter over it, I simply used a tweezer and dipped him directly into the small jar of glitter. Gave it a good tapping and avoided the whole mess of getting the leftover glitter back into the tiny jar. I burnished it with my finger and then colored with a Stampin' Up stampin' write marker (crumb cake) There's a few spots where I had started to add a darker color but quickly changed my mind. It's barely noticeable in the real world, but here in photos it's more obvious (and giving me such anxiety!). I decided that wasn't enough texture so I dug through every drawer, bin, nook & cranny and came up with a brand new roll of adhesive-backed cork (which will be having a playdate with my Cricut Explore very soon). I used a SU Word Bubbles framelits die and stamped the sentiment (from the Lawn Fawn set) using a Versamark ink pad and SU white embossing powder. I was a little nervous about how the heat gun would affect the cork (it's super thin) so I worked quickly and it was just fine. Still deciding there's not enough texture, I grabbed my new SU Brick Wall Textured Impressions embossing folder and embossed my background panel, then sponged on some SU Early Espresso ink. I used my Cricut Explore to cut print & cut the bus and see the little exhaust poof? It's from one of the party hats in the Hats Off to You die set. I trimmed it a little bit to give it the shape I needed. Okay, so now I'm on a full-blown texture obsession and decide to add SU Crystal Effects to the bus windows and a "dot" of Ranger Enamel Accents (black) to the center of the wheel.
The oh-so-sweet gingerbread man is from the little stamp set and coordinating die set called Oh, Snap! I also used the park bench from the Winter in the Park stamp set along with the coordinating die set, which is available separately.
I added a couple of SU pearls after the first two photos were taken, but then popped them off -- they looked silly, but this photo shows the micro fine glitter a little bit better
