This is a project that I have procrastinated over long enough and it simply needs to get done! My grandchildren are fortunate enough to have their own room at my house. Since they all live nearby and visit often, it only makes sense for them to have their own space. Last year, when the youngest grandchild outgrew the crib, I converted it to a daybed and removed all of the jungle themed items including vinyl stickers from the wall, the cute jungle curtains and bedding and many of the larger toddler toys. The changing table temporarily serves as a t.v. stand. The children range in age from 9 to almost 3 years old. Bella is the oldest and only girl of the bunch.
So, here you see the room, walls stripped down void of all the vinyl decor. I had the children's names on the wall -- they boys' in vinyl and Bella's in foam letters. The plush animal net that was hanging in the corner has left some holes and there's a few other areas where the kids have done some minor damage. Today I will scrape and spackle all of those areas. I will begin painting tomorrow. I still haven't decided on a color. I'll head out to Sherwin-Williamns today and make the decision then.
The crib will be replaced with a queen size bed, the t.v. will be mounted on the wall so I can remove the clunky changing table. The dresser, nightstand and chest are all being removed as well. The small table and chairs will be replaced with a larger, sturdier table, more suitable for arts and crafts. All of the grandkids love to do arts and crafts at Grandma's house. The shelves that now hold toys will be stocked with all of their art supplies. The larger bed will be much more convenient for sleep-overs. The closet door is being removed and replaced with a 6-panel door, stained to match the bedroom door.
Stop by on Friday to see my progress!
